Everything started about 45 years ago with a tile company in Germany. Richard Stark, a master craftsman in the trade of tile setting, founded a tile company in Wimmental, a small town in southern Germany. This company, over time, developed into a multi-million dollar family business.
In the 1980’s the son of Richard Stark, Werner Stark, took over this company. He had also, like his father, received his master's degree in tile setting. When he was just 19 years old, he placed second in the national tile setting competition in Germany.

1986 marked the year of a life-changing move for Werner and his family. He had an opportunity to relocate to Huntsville, Alabama to pursue the same business …a longtime dream. The business was opened in 1986 and was located on Airport road and began to thrive.

Tragedy hit on November 15,1989 when the building was hit by a tornado. Like so many other people at the time, the company had to make adjustments as well as rebuild the showroom they had worked so hard to establish. During this time, they temporarily moved to a small office building on Bob Wallace Avenue. With hard work and determination they moved back to Airport Road 6 months later and remained there for the next 9 years growing & helping to develop the ceramic tile & stone market in Huntsville.

Werner entered the National Tile Contractors Association’s national tile setting competition in Miami, Florida 1993 as well as in Anaheim, California in 1994. Both years his team placed first due to his design & installation skills.

In 1998, because of the growth of the company as well as the addition of a stone fabrication shop they moved to where they are today on the South Memorial Parkway. Ceramic Harmony celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2016.

The company has continued to grow year after year. It now has a top-of-the line fabrication shop where all countertops, inlays & custom stone orders are fabricated. The shop houses a waterjet which cuts with 1/1000" precision... any design imaginable, a CNC machine which can be used to route 10 different combinations of edgework on your countertops, a radial arm polisher where slabs can be polished, brushed, honed or antiqued and a finishing area where all other non-machine work is done by trained craftsmen. There is a slab installation team, which is trained to install all stones the shop fabricates as well as a tile installation team, which has been trained to install the intricate designs & layouts the design department creates. The now 3,600-squarefoot showroom displays a vast array of ceramic tiles, marble, limestones, granite & onyx, with which the trained showroom designers can help you create your custom look. Ceramic Harmony has become one of the top high-end ceramic tile & stone showrooms in the area. With Werner’s God given talent of design, his installation skills, many years of experience and knowledge gathered from around the world, Ceramic Harmony can help you add the “ambiance in tile and stone” you’ve dreamed of.
